COLUMBIA -- The price of gasoline has jumped as much as 25-cents in some Mid-Missouri cities since last week.
The average price of regular unleaded in Columbia is $3.49 per gallon.
The Columbia Eagle Stop Convenience Store on North Providence Road has an ongoing special for their customers, no matter how much they charge for gasoline. If you buy a car wash for $4, then you save 20-cents per gallon. Brian Amick bought the car wash and the deal.
Amick said, "It seems like a pretty good deal, especially around this time, you know. It's pretty tough with gas prices right now. I think any way you can save a few cents here and there it seems like a pretty good deal. Combined with a clean car, it seems like, why not, you know?"
You can buy your car wash and get your discount at the pump without paying inside. You can only buy so much gasoline at the discounted rate. The limit is $60.
If you maxed out at $60 at the current price of $3.49 per gallon that would mean you bought about 16 gallons of gasoline. 16 x 20-cents means you saved $3.20 by buying a $4 car wash. In other words, you paid full price for your gasoline and got a car wash for about 80-cents.
Store Manager Whitney Rodriguez said, "It helps out the economy. We do it all of the time. It's cheaper for everybody plus our customers get to go into our car wash. It helps all of us out."
Do you know of any other places where you can find other gasoline discounts?
